Sharing Lille: the sharing economy goes local

On April 21st the first edition of Sharing Lille will be held. Thousands of people are expected to attend this major event dedicated to citizen co-construction, city sharing and the emergence of a collaborative society. The venture is supported by OuiShare and sponsored by Transdev.

Local challenges, citizen solutions

The Northern Region of France embodies all the challenges of the twenty-first century: high unemployment rate, industrial transition, new migration flow and a rise of protesting votes. But it is also offers a wonderful space for creativity and contemplation. The success of Euratechnologies is evidence of this, as is Jeremy Rifkin's work on the third industrial revolution which anticipates the post-oil period and aims to make this region an example of sustainable economic conversion. However, some will find this approach to economic and ecological transition a little « Colbertist » and somewhat detached from reality.

Citizens, innovative, institutions : time for connections

For Sharing Lille, we decided to focus on connecting citizens, innovators, public institutions and private companies to encourage their exchange across 4 horizontal themes:

  • Co-building cities
  • Alternative modes of work and production
  • Optimizing time and space
  • Free public data

You will be able explore these themes through active initiatives such as workshops, conferences, round-table discussions and an exhibition created for the occasion during which you will likely come across speakers such as Flore Berlingen (ZeroWaste), Armel Le Coz (Open Democracy), Benjamin Tincq (Poc21), Diana Filippova (Microsoft) and Alexander Laing (Bulb in Town).

A sustainable event

Last but not least, in order to design the program, we wanted to emphasize three fundamental aspects: gender equality among speakers, the obligation for politicians to actually participate in the debate, and being environmentally friendly... So take the metro if you feel like joining us! Or even better: ride a bike !

See you on April 21st !
