Get to know Jipio!

Nominated in the Collaborative Consumption category, Jipio is a platform for friendly transactions helping organizations to build, scale and market their sharing applications and maximize impact. Johan Trip, Founder and managing director of Jipio answered our questions:

1. What got you started with your initiative?

"In 2011 we moved from Holland to a small town on the border of Myanmar. I was surprised of the amount of stuff we had amassed but more even about the potential when used for the best. In working with communities in Myanmar I'm amazed by the potential that gets unlocked when organize themselves in cooperatives and find collaboratives solutions for (live-threatening) challenges. These two experiences lead me to set out to discover in what way technology can shape the collaborative society and in what way we, as a company, can contribute."

2. What Change does your initiative bring?

"In the road to a collaborative society we have the opportunity to change ordinary transactions between two individuals into a transformational encounter changing they way people live together. We’re extremely excited to see what is happening and how technology can empower these kinds of encounters (without hurting them). We’re looking at how technical innovation can speed up the process to a collaborative society and we’re building a platform that holds the building blocks for applications that focus on sharing, specifically in the area of goods, time, logistics and transportation."
