Get to know Laboriosa89!

Nominated in the Collaborative Governance category, Laboriosa89 is a space for free interaction and experimentation, an online and offline community of people who wish to prototype the nonhierarchical institutions for a collaborative future. Camila Haddad, member of Laboriosa89 answered our questions:

1. What got you started with your initiative?

"Laboriosa89 was started by Oswaldo Oliveira, an economist who has been working with networks and distributed organisations for over 15 years. His idea was to initiate a space/movement that he himself wanted to frequent/be a part of: a completely horizontal space, with no hierarchy whatsoever, where people could experiment on new ways of organising to create art, products, services, learning experiences and whatever else they wished, to put their abilities and gifts to use, in service of a different world."

2. What Change does your initiative bring?

"The horizontality of the space springs out collaborative relations amongst creative people from all areas who wish to work in a freer and more autonomous fashion. Just because they can, people interact and create diverse projects together, such as Unlock (a recurring crowdfunding platform), Sistemico (a distributed and abundant non-currency), Re-roupa (a project for the reforms and customisation of old clothes), Cook Lab (a project to reconnect people with the food they eat), Cinese (a crowdlearning platform), and countless others. "
